Embracing biblical femininity

What is femininity ? Besides the extrinsic equivalent which tends to compartmentalise a ‘ woman in being a woman ‘ be it cooking , cleaning , knitting , gardening … could there be more ? Yes . Society has marginalise women to be of an inferior gender for years . Which gave birth to the feminist movement . A movement which was birthed through so much oppression , unfortunately gave way to a social stigma – that anything delicate in a woman is seen as a sign of weakness . Contrary to the cultural status quo , biblically a woman is precious before our Lord . We are meant to be delicate .. Embracing my weaknesses and strengths as a woman makes me stronger and wiser as a woman. My strength propagates through my weakness . It does not make me less of a woman . It makes me more of a woman fashioned into whom God desired me to be . He is the potter and I am the clay ( Isaiah 64:8) .

We are nurturers because by design we are called into a domestic role which caters to the gifts that God has bestowed within us . God made Eve because Adam needed a helper . We long to be mothers because It is woven within us by God himself . By design we respond to an environment which responds to our gifts of womanhood . It is parallel to our nature . Biblical femininity is not about oppressing the gifted qualities that our Lord has woven within us . But rather it is about embracing them – and fulfilling our roles as a wife , mother , daughter and sister . In one of the upcoming posts we will be looking at the key concepts that underline biblical femininity. Through a diversified lens .
